Two of the top stars from Best of British Wrestling recently had WWE trials before the management of the WWE. Current Best of British Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Darren Burridge and BOBW Academy trainer Rocker Richards were invited by the WWE to take part in the trials held before Tuesday nights Smackdown tapings in the NIA Birmingham.
Rocker Richards was the first up having to wrestle with Jamie Knoble for 10 minutes infront of Fit Finlay, Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko the Undertaker and several of the other WWE Management team. Afterwards he was asked to cut a promo and then wrestle Brian Major. Once this was finished he received some very positive feedback from the agents and will be looking to do everything they asked of him in the coming months.
Next up the Pukka One Darren Burridge showed just why he is so popular in halls around the UK by showing the WWE Management his unique style while wrestling the UK Kid. After wrestling the UK Kid the WWE stars who were watching were clearly highly amused by the comedic antics of Burridge but even more impressed by his fantastic wrestling skills.
American Wrestling superstar and current US Heavyweight Champion Blackjack Phoenix and Canadian Lance Malibu have arrived in the UK for a month long tour. These two visiters from across the Atlantic have come to the academy with the intention of adding a more British Wrestling style to there current styles of wrestling. Both men will be working on the WWE tour of the UK from the 15th October in Birmingham and the 16th of October in London.
The 6'4 Texan star who weighs 280lb is at the gym for the next 2 weeks for some intensive training ahead of his WWE trials and will be making some high profile wrestling appearances around the country.
The BOBW Academy will be closed on FRIDAY, SATURDAY October 12th + 13th as Steve Morocco and Rocker Richards are away for those days on business. SUNDAY Training on the 14th of October will be running however it will be held at 3pm till 7pm instead of the usual time.
On October 7th there will be another academy show held at the Gym. Matches to be announced shortly.
Best of British Wrestling will be holding our 4th Academy show on Sunday 16th Sept. Matches are yet to be confirmed however its likely that Joey Doom will do his utmost to assert his dominance on the BOBW Trainee roster following on from his vicious attack on Jonny Reggae and Sexy Steve. Also the return to BOBW of the Rasheed Patel and Richard parliament who have been away on business all summer, wherever these guys go the gorgeous Britannia is not far behind!!!!
As always tickets are £5 and are on sale now. Space is stricly limited and are on a first come first served basis.
Best of British Wrestling management would like to congratulate our Heavyweight Champion the Pukka One Darren Burridge on his recent role in action movie Ten Dead Men. Burridge
secured a starring role in this slick action packed UK Gangster movie and this role is sure to launch Burridge from a successful wrestling career to an even more successful Movie career. Although Burridge is making the transition to the big screen he will still compete around the UK for Best of British Wrestling as our champion.
Well done Darren, you have done us all proud!

On March 26th the first film Starring WWE Superstar Kane hit the shops on DVD and Best of British Wrestling have been asked to review this DVD in which the Big Red Machine Stars as Jacob Goodnight, a serial killer axe weilding maniac!!!
See No Evil is the first project by WWE Films and not only does Kane star Vince McMahon is the executive producer of this horror flick and it must be said that the WWE contingent do a pretty good job. Set in the dilapidated Blackwell Hotel the plot is simple, a psychopathic 7 foot tall, 300 pound murdering machine (Kane) goes on a rampage killing his way through a group of teens on work release from a local detention centre. To keep watch on these young offenders are two cops from the detention centre, one of whom happens to be the same officer who put a bullet in Goodnights head 4 years previously and so begins his quest to kill these criminals and remove there eyes.
The cast for this movie is mainly made up of relatively unknown actors however the real draw for this film to Wrestling fans is the Big Red Machine, who although only says 3 words in the whole movie does a convincing job as the insane murderer bullied his whole life by his overbearing mother in what is clearly a nod to other horror movies of the past, most notably Psycho, and although this is not a Hitchcock classic it certainly entertains.
While the action is a little slow to get going once it does the killing comes thick and fast and is also pretty gruesome, not too far off on the gore front to other movies in the lionsgate films catalogue. The setting of the Blackwell Hotel really adds to the sense of suspense througout the movie as there are a range of 2 way mirrors and spy holes for Goodnight to spy on his unsuspecting victims and these are used to great effect during the film.
This is a movie that Wrestling fans will enjoy if for no other reason than it stars Kane, but i think that there is more than enough to keep even a non wrestling fan entertained for 80 minutes. This first movie by WWE films is a great start and certainly has some pretty cool visual pieces during the movie, most notably the awesome effects on the final scene, the gore is also well handled with victims eyes being plucked out of there skulls!
This DVD release has a few special features too including the usual Director and Writer commentary, scene selection, making of feature, storyboard comparison and a feature on the history of Kane in the WWE.
For the movie I would give it a 7.5 out of 10 as its entertaining and if you watch it expecting a mindless slasher flick you will be pleasantly surprised, the features are pretty good but nothing special. Its certainly a movie that every fan of the WWE should own it is available now for £15.99.
